Game/Task Outline
Tactical Problem: Handling of football
Skill development: Hand and body positioning during release and catch of football;  Ball Control, Catching and Short Passes.
                               Basic defending skills will be learnt in the extensions.
Teaching Points: 

Tactic

  • Communication
  • Focus on ball carrier
  • Support & running onto ball carrier
Skill Execution
  • Handoffs are in a random order, no particular pattern.  All players move around space.
  • Stay close to ball carrier during handoff.
  • Form a target with hands for the ball carrier to place ball into.
  • Bring ball close to body. 
  • Run parallel to ball carrier.
  • Stay within set boundaries.
Organizational Points:
  • Start by walking through motions.
  • Use large area.
  • Must call out name of person receiving ball.
  • Random movement around area
  • Maximum of 5 seconds holding ball before making pass.
Extensions:
  • Add a defender to pressure the ball carrier.
  • Players must learn to move and position themselves so that passoffs are successful.
